NATURAL MONUMENTS
1. Perda ‘e Liana (Gairo) situated some 1293 m above sea level., it is one of the natural wonders of Sardinia. 2. Scala di San Giorgio di Osini (Osini): the steps (da skala = steep mountain way) Gola o Arco di San Giorgio, memorial of a saint that was bishop of Barbagia and Suelli at the beginning of XI century. 3. Olivastri di Santa Maria Navarrese (Baunei) in the urban park of Santa Maria Navarrese, tourist area on the enchanting coast of baunei, you will find “patriarchi arborei” in the Mediterranean forest, hidden over time by the overgrowth. 4. Su Sterru – il Golgo (Baunei): monument situated in a highly appreciate setting on the highest point of Golgo at around 400 m above sea level. 5. Perda Longa – Agugliastra (Baunei): is situated in the splendid coast of Baunei, north of Santa Maria Navarrese. 6. Punta Goloritzč (Baunei): Cala Goloritzč, it ia an enchanting little bay situated north of Capo di Monte Santo, in the southern part of the Gulf of Orosei.
Perda ‘e Liana (Gairo)

Altitude 1250 m. above sea level, the walls of this point rise to around 50-100 m. in diameter, structured of limestone dolomite, as are all of the ledges in this area, constitutes an unmistakable point of reference for all of the surrounding territory. It is caressed by dashes of “corbezzolo” and “erica arborea”, rare plant species. You can enjoy an area baron, remote and solemn. From faraway you can admire forests of wild Mediterranean plant. Natural habitat for mouflon, wild boar and eagle. Not faraway turquoise serpent like lake Flumendosa, the waterfalls of “Rio ‘e Forru”, and the village of “Ruinas”, of grand archeological and tourist interest.

Perda Longa (Baunei)

The rocky mount of Perda Longa elevate in point high above the land. The mount are known as “Guglia”, “Aguglia”, “Agugliastra”, ancient to the sailors, her slender forms enlarged at the base and slowly peaking towards its points. The mount pyramid to heights of 128 m. Blanketed with splashes of vegetation, according to some, the reason for being given the name “Ogliastra” to the surrounded region. Easily accessible from here is a communal road which meets the 125.

Punta Goloritzè (Baunei)

In the territory of Baunei, south of “Capo di Monte Santo”, below, one of the coves most characteristic: “Cala Goloritzč”. A little beach of white sand between limestone rocks and Mediterranean bushes, with a transparent blue-green sea and stream on sweet water running into the sea. Close by a form of rock, eaten by the sea over time, forming a suggestive and unusual arc. The cove can be reached not only by sea, but by high ground along a pathway, consumed by the footsteps of ancient miners. An incomparable picture of beauty, in which unites many natural elements.

Su Sterru "Il Golgo" (Baunei)

The deepest chasm, unique in Europe is situated in the valley which extends above to the residential area of Baunei, around 400 m. The frightening charms drops 270 m to the depths of the earth. From 25 to 40 m. in diameter the originally volcanic rock was explored for the first time in 1957.  .

Olivastri di Santa Maria Navarrese (Baunei)

“olea europea” – Olivastro, natural botanical monuments millions of years old on the inside of the park of Santa Maria. With a span of more than 9 m and a diameter of above 8 m. These giants of nature rise from the earth around an ancient church erected in 1052 from daughter of a navarrese king in devotion and thanks. Enriched by a Spanish tower of XVI by the rocks edge, in the splendid gulf of Arbatax.

Scala di S. Giorgio (Osini)

Within the walls of vast tables of limestone, appear the steps of St. Giorgio. A narrow gorge formed by natural walls of limestone and dolomite, alongside a narrow road which is used by the habitants of Osini. The gorge is the result of a massive vertical fracture of the rock and the opening is around 100 m deep. At the summit of the gorge, which is reached by the steps, one may admire the valley of “Rio Pardu”. The origin behind the name “St. Giorgio” comes from the legend which talks of a miracle performed by “St. Giorgio” bishop of Suelli who opened up the gorge between the rocks. The vastness of the gorge, the forests, the species of rare orchids, together with “nuraghi”, caves and wildlife gives the location a feeling of total wonder.
